A Young Adult Action and Adventure story

Danny gets into big trouble in Chapters 2 & 3. I’m not going to give you a synopsis, you can download it for FREE and read it for yourselves. However, a couple of things inspired parts of these chapters.

Chapter 2

My RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) buddy, Wing Commander ‘Trackless’ Millsom, restored a 1940s Buick from a bare chassis and it was the inspiration for the get-away car in this chapter. I remember the floor in Trackless’ two spare bedrooms covered with chrome-plate parts for ages. His missus, Cherril, was very patient.

Chapter 3

Burning sugar-cane prior to harvest no longer occurs in Australia, but I’ve stood next to a cane-fire south of Townsville and it’s an awesome experience. The noise, heat and flames are truly daunting. I flew passenger jets up and down Eastern Australia and the cane-fires were a spectacular sight at night. The setting for this chapter came from those images.

A Young Adult Action and Adventure story

Front Cover A5-ePub

Zach McAlister’s mother is sick and due to go into hospital for an operation. To “get him out the way” his father puts him on a flight to Merimbula, New South Wales, Australia where he is met by his Grandfather Danny McAlister.

Out on his Grandfather’s ranch, or what’s left of it, it didn’t take Zach long to become bored silly.

Hunting around for things to do, he finds a box of old photos and a strip of six medals hidden away. The photos were mostly dog-eared and ragged at the edges. Mostly they were of young blokes hanging around tanks and military stuff, and there were lots of choppers. You know, those beat up ones you see in all the war movies. When he looked closer he realised that most of the guys in the photos didn’t look much older than Zach himself! And then there were the letters from a woman named Angela.

He takes the box to his Grandfather and asks him about the medals and the photos, and that’s where our story starts – well kind off……

MY OWN STORY – THE EMMELINE PANKHURST STORY

Of note was the fact that the closing paragraphs of this book were written in the late summer of 1914, when the armies of every great power in Europe called upon their citizens, and the citizens of their colonies, to mobilised for savage, unsparing, barbarous warfare against one another, against small and unaggressive nations, against helpless women and children, and against civilisation itself.

“There can be no real peace in the world until woman, the mother half of the human family, are given liberty in the councils of the world” – Emmeline Pankhurst.

OLD PETER’S RUSSIAN TALES

Download link: https://goo.gl/B7ASZh

20 illustrated Russian folk and fairy tales retold for young people and the young at heart. The tales are a good sampling of Slavic folklore. The stories in this book are those that Russian peasants tell their children and each other.

Possibly of more importance and with a degree of irony and poignancy to the reader is that most of these stories were recorded in Russia in camps, and at the side of the road, from soldiers as the Russian Imperial Army marched to the front to engage the Germans during WWI.

At this point we would like to thank you for your patronage and support.

Compiled and Retold by Nora Lang

Herein are 14 famous, illustrated, stories about Princes, Princesses and other famous rulers from history.

The stories gathered here have appealed and will continue to appeal to every age. Nowhere in the realm of fiction are there stories to compare with those which actually happened and which had such a significant effect on the course of the human race. These stories are so intimately connected with the life, history and religion of the great peoples of history, both recent and ancient, that they have become an integral part of our own civilization. These are now the heritage of wealth to every child that is born into the world.

Nora Lang, the compiler and reteller of the stories, dedicated the book to an eight year old girl, the ninth child of Claude Bowes-Lyon also known as Lord Glamis and the 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. Little did Nora know that the young Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon would go on to marry Prince Albert, who later became King of England. She gave birth to two daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. Elizabeth is now, of course, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Herein you will find the stories of:
Napoleon
His Majesty The King Of Rome
The Princess Jeanne
Hacon The King
Mi Reina! Mi Reina!
Henriette The Siege Baby
The Red Rose
The White Rose
Richard The Fearless
Frederick And Wilhelmine
Une Reine Malheureuse
The ‘Little Queen’
Two Little Girls And Their Mother
The Troubles Of The Princess Elizabeth

This volume is sure to keep you and your young ones enchanted for hours, if only not because of the content, but because of their quality. They will have you and your young wards coming back for more time-and-again.

Compiled and Retold by Jane Eyre Fryer
Illustrated By Edwin John Prittie

THE MARY FRANCES STORY BOOK contains 37 Illustrated Stories from among the Story People of Story Island

All the stories in this book tell a story but they also contain lessons; they teach something about cooking and sewing, gardening and first-aid. In fact the Mary Frances Story Book is all story, and contains 37 exquisitely illustrated stories drawn from many sources.

One summer afternoon Mary Frances took a holiday and sailed away across the blue water to an island—an island formed by the top of a coral mountain resting in a sea of blue—a brighter blue than the water or sky anywhere in the world.

The island itself and the roofs of the houses were coral white, with palm, banana and mahogany trees encased in green. The breezes that blew are the warm, soft breezes of the southern sun. This island is the “enchanted island” of the good story-tellers which Mary Frances, and now all children, are allowed to visit through the stories in this book. The story people who live there believe in truth and beauty, courage and kindness, and these are the theme of all their stories.

As may be imagined, when Mary Frances came home she had not only one, but many new stories to tell; and they are now written in this book for you.

Some of the stories in this volume are:

On the Shore
The Good Ferry Puts Out to Sea
Diamonds and Toads
Tiny’s Adventures in Tinytown
Gloomy Gus and the Christmas Cat
The Wedding Feast
The Midnight Music  – and many many more

This volume is sure to keep you and your young ones enchanted for hours, if not because of the quantity, then their quality. They will have you coming back for more time and again.
